Trawler towed to Hooksiel

Fri May 15 09:27:27 CEST 2020 Timsen

The 'Bona Fide - TX 65' was disabled on May 12, 2020, due to an engine damage in the fairwaay NE of Wangerooge island. Short past 6 a.m. the crew alerted the lifeboat 'Bernhard Gruben' of the DGtRS which immediately headed to the vessel which was 16 miles away. It took the lifeboat one hour to reach the trawler and took it in tow. In the meantime a tug which was nearby had been on standby as a pracaution. During the towage to Hooksiel the fishermen investigated the damage despite the heavy swell so that spare parts had already been organized shoreside and kept ready at the port. Due to the low tide the convoy initially was unable to enter. The daughter boat 'Jonhann Fidi' was launched and carried the spare parts from Hooksiel to the trawler so that one hour later the ship, after repairs, could enter the port with own power. The lifeboat was back at its station at 12.30 p.m. At the time of the operation the wind was blowing with six Beaufort, and the swell was up to three meters. The trawler left the port again the same day and returned to the fishing grounds on the Northsea.
