Passenger tried to start fire
A small fire broke out on deck six of the "Viking Cinderella" in the night of July 31, 2018. A passenger had tried to light fire on a garment. It started to smoke, and fortunately it was discovered on time so staff aboard the ship could extinguish the fire with a fire extinguisher, thereby inhaling some smoke. For safety reasons they were taken to a hospital in Mariehamn for a checkup. A total of three people were admitted to the hospital. During the night, the police was called to the West Port and now suspected the passenger for sabotage. The suspect has no address in Finland and was arrested for the crime which gives imprisonment from four months to four years.
Search for lost man suspended
Seven boats and a rescue helicopter participated in the search for a man who had fallen overboard from the "Viking Cinderella" on Dec 25, 2017, around midnight in the Ålands Sea enroute from Stockholm to Mariehamn. The rescue team, the Coast Guard and the Maritime Administration cooperated and received assistance from several vessels. Nevertheless, the man could not be found. Wind speeds on scene were 10 meters per seconds. At 4 a.m. on Dec 26 the search was suspended without result.
Security guard arrested due to assault in a cabin
The police launched investigation against a security guard suspected of assaulting a woman in a cabin aboard the "VIking Cinderella" on Sep 23, 2016, between midnight and 6:40 a.m. A warrant request was submitted to the Stockholm District Court to have him arrested for aggravated assault and assault. The suspect man works as an employee of a government agency. The man was arrested at 5:11 p.m. by the prosecutor on duty. The crime was allegedly committed on the ferry at night. Initially, the man was suspected of attempted murder, but the prosecutor Christina Voigt adjusted to aggravated assault. The man was heard on Sep 26. On Sep 27 detention hearings against him were held in the District Court of Stockholm.Upload News
