Collision on the Don

The 'Volga-4007'. enroute from Samsun to Azov with a cargo of wheat, was in collision with the the port side of the unloaded cargo m/v 'Mezhdurechensk' on the River Don, two miles from the port of Azov, in the morning of Nov 16, 2020, due to a pilot error on the 'Volga-4007'. There were no casualties and no pollution. Investigators tried to clarify the amount of damage at the site of the incident.

Freighter refloated

The 'Volga-4007' which ran aground in the Don on Dec 13. was subject of underwater inspections by divers. a tug and a technical team attended the incident scene and provided further assistance. The vessel was refloated and towed from the grounding position to a safety area in the afternoon of Dec 18. Internal, external damage surveys were carried out by the crew and a surveyor. Subsequently, the vessel has been granted departure permission and sailed from Azov on Dec 19 at 2 p.m. bound to Samsun with an ETA as of Dec 23.

Grounding on the Don

The 'Volga 4007' ran aground in the evening of Dec 12, 2019, while leaving the port of Azov in the Don estuary. The ship was loaded with 5.000 tons of wheat. Attempts to refloat it with tugs assistance failed, as of 1400 UTC Dec 13 she was still aground in pos. 47° 7.63' N 039° 21.27' E. The grounding was caused by a sharp drop of the water level fall due to strong offshore winds.
