Allision with wooden pier in Brake

On June 19, 2012, the "West Oder 1" allided with a wooden pier in the port of Brake, Wesermarsch community, while berthing. The accident caused significant damage. A double-t-beam was pulled out and some bollards at the bow of the ship were damaged. The master of the ship did neither have a patent for sailing on inland waterways nor was the ship approved to do so. The master will thus face a prosecution.
