Wreck raised in Beira
Already in the run of September 2021 the Dutch based salvage company Marine Masters raised the 'Win Far 161', which had sunk in the port of Beira in an upside down position. It was subsequently grounded on a sandbank and will be broken up. The first task has been to remove the diesel oil from the wreck, using hot tap equipment. Once this was accomplished, the fishing hwas parbuckled and refloated in an upside-down position.By refloating the vessel in an inverted position Marine Masters avoided expensive heavy lift equipment which was not available in Mozambique. The local authorities granted permission to beach the vessel in the upside-down position for further disposal. The 'Win Far 161' had initially arrived in Beira in Mozambique on Jan 19 after sailing from Port Louis in Mauritius on Dec 30, 2020. By the end of January she was again back at sea fishing in East African waters before later sinking. Reports with photos: https://africaports.co.za/#4461 https://africaports.co.za/#4448
