Cooling system defect off Isle of Wight

The "Arklow Resolve", en route from Swansea to Ipswich with a crew of seven and a cargo of clinker on board, suffered a defect in the gasket of its cooling system about 25 miles from St. Catherine's Lighthouse, Isle of Wight, in position 50 18 22N, 001 41 10W, on Sep 14 around midnight. at around 0004 hrs, UTC, today. The estimated time for the completion of repairs works was around 30 minutes The ship berthed at the bulk terminal in Ipswich on Sep 15 at 11 a.m.

Disabled cargo ship under tow

The "Arklow Resolve", being route from Belfast to Ipswich, with 4815 tons of stones as cargo and a crew of eight on board, got its gearbox coupling destroyed in position 51 27 46.5N, 005 55 30.8W, 35 miles from St. Annes Head, on Aug 17, 2019, at 5.55 p.m. The ship went adrift and needed tug assistance in order to tow it to Swansea. The crew dropped anchor and maintained vigilant watch to ensure no drag occured, There were regular communication checks between Milford Haven CGOC and the vessel, The tug "Cannis" (IMO: 8102141), was called from Plymouth and arrived on scene on Aug 18 at 5.15 a.m. The "Arklow Resolve" had anchor issues and slipped anchor in position 51 32 33.0 N, 005 42 37.2 W and marked it with three green buoys. The tug then took the vessel in tow at 6.15 a.m. with an ETA as of Aug 19. The harbour master in Swansea was informed and fully aware of the situation. The freighter was towed into the port of Swansea by the "Cannis" and assisted to the quay by the tug "Svitzer Bentley" (IMO: 9127356) on Aug 19 at 11 p.m. It sailed again , sailed from Swansea on Sep 12, bound for Ipswich, where it berthed at the bulk terminal on Sep 15 at 11 a.m.

Freighter under tow to Fowey

After a gearbox failure on Sep 24 in the English Canal 57 miles south of Plymouth with 4.726 tons fertilizer bound to Sevilla on board, the British tug "MTS Indus" (IMO: 8884830) took the vessel in tow in pos. 49 31 06 N 004 00 06 W at 8 a.m. bound to Fowey. The ship initially was headed from Gothenburg to Sevilla, ETA Sep 27, but had suffered an engine breakdown. It arrived off Fowey on Sep 25 at 8 a.m., and the intention was to take it alongside on Sep 26 at 6 a.m.
