Beta Marine starting to crew its new ship
The new founded Beta Marine, registered on the Marshall Islands, is the owner of the former 'Aidavita', which had been laid up in Tallinn recently. The ship has now been officially registered under the Liberian flag as 'Avitak'. A Turkish crewing agency was searching for personnel for the ship which has berths reserved in Piraeus in summer.
Former AIDAVita renamed
While the former 'AIDAVIta' remained stationary in the port of Tallinn, it has recently been renamed 'Avitak'. To the same time it was registered in Liberia. No further plans have yet been announced.
AIDAVita will not sail again for Carnival Corp.
Carnival Corporation continues to respond to changes in the industry as it recovers from the impact of the pandemic and changes in travel patterns. The 'AIDAVita' is reportedly being retired and sold, as the corporation continued to redeploy ships and retire older, less efficient ships during 2022. The removal of an additional three smaller ships would bring the total to 22 cruise ships removed from the corporation’s fleet since 2019. Detailing plans for its winter of 2022-2023 deployments, Carnival’s German brand, Aida, confirmed that it will be retiring the cruise ship after recently adding a new, larger LNG-powered ship to the fleet. After 20 years of service, the 'AIDAvita' will not be used again for the company. The ship, which is currently laid up in Tallinn, has been sold, which marks the third cruise ship to recently be removed from the Aida brand.
