Man died after falling on board
Christopher McGrory, 29, a passenger of the "Grand Classica", died after being medevaced from the cruise ship which sailed from Palm Beach to Freeport. The man was at a bachelor’s party in advance of his Dec. 1 wedding. He fell on board in the night hours when the ship was 13 miles east of the port.The U.S. Coast Guard received a call on Oct 18, 2018, around 8:15 p.m. The man was taken to St. Mary's Medical Center where hospital staff pronounced him dead. The ship then resumed its itinerary to Grand Bahama Island.
New Cruise Ship Arrived in Port of Palm Beach, Florida
Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line’s new cruise ship named Grand Classica has arrived at the Port of Palm Beach, Florida to offer new cruises after being purchased from Costa Cruises and undergoing a major refurbishment. Grand Classica which is the newest ship in the Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line fleet arrived in Palm Beach this morning. There was a musical welcome when the ship arrived with a performance by the Bak Middle School of the Arts Foundation. Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line Unveils Details of New Ship
Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line's newest ship, 1,680-passenger Grand Classica, will feature eight dining options, two pools, a main theater and two smaller theaters, a spa and salon, and kids club. The cruise line announced the purchase of the ship, the former Costa neoClassica, back in December 2017. It last went through a dry dock in October 2017 to improve infrastructure, along with refurbishments and improvements executed by Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line. "Grand Classica complements Grand Celebration nicely," said Oneil Khosa, CEO of Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line (BPCL). "There are several additional public spaces -- so we are excited to add some new offerings, as well as bring all the popular outlets that we have on Grand Celebration." Grand Classica has 10 passenger decks, with all public spaces located on Decks 8 through 14. Each deck has been named after an island of the Bahamas (Deck 5 is Bimini; Deck 8 is Abacos.)
