Container ship attacked and damaged

The 'CSAV Tyndall' was attacked on July 3, 2021, in in the northern Indian Ocean and caught fire. The ship was formerly owned by Eyal Ofer’s Zodiac Maritime. Israeli officials believe Iran behind the attack. The ship was en route from the port of Jeddah to Jebel Ali. There were no injuries reported aboard the ship, which suffered minor damage and continued on its journey after the incident. Israeli sources suspected that the Iran was behind the alleged attack, perhaps in response to the targeting of an Iranian centrifuge production site. On July 4 at 1 a.m. the ship berthed at the DPWorld Jebel Ali Container Terminal.

Engine trouble in English Channel

The 'CSAV Tyndall' encountered engine trouble enroute from Southampton to Rotterdam in the English Channel and was drifting towards shallow waters on Oct 16, 2019. The emergency tug 'Abeille Languedoc' was alerted but did not have to intervene as the container ship managed to drop anchor. It remained, however, on standby as a precaution. By 3 p.m. the container ship was in pos. 50° 34.92' N 001° 6.35' E, escorted by the tug with a course of 70 degrees. On OCt 17 at 2.20 a.m it berthed at the ECT Delta Container Terminal Europaport in Rotterdam.

Four missing after collision with fishing vessel

The "CSAV Tyndall" collided with a Korean 17-ton fishing vessel in waters about 26 kilometers northwest of the small islet of Biyang near the southern resort island, north of Jeju, on Dec 8, 2016 at 12:30 p.m. The fishing vessel sank, five crew members were rescued, two were recovered dead and two remained missing. The body of the 59 year old captain was recovered on Dec 9 off the country's southwest coast, raising the death toll to two. The body was found floating some 16 kilometers off the country's resort island of Jeju, about 12 km away from where the incident took place. He was transferred to a hospital on the island. The body of another crew member was found late on Dec 8. The "CSAV Tyndall" was moving dead slow near the collision site. She was en route from Busan to Qingdao. The master was meanwhile arrested, while the vessel resumed her sailing and anchored off Qingdao on Dec 12.
