Ruptured bulkhead caused gas development

Yellow smoke started billowing from the "Dae Won", which was berthed at Kaohsiung, in the early morning of June 5, 2019. The gas was a chemical reaction of mixing nitric acid with ballast water. The tanker which had a cargo of nitric acid, suffered a ruptured bulkhead between the cargo and ballast tanks which lead to an acid and water mix. The emitted gas concentration didn’t pollute air to a threatening level. The tanker was ordered to leave port and sailed at 2 a.m., headed to Hongkong, ETA June 6.

Collision at Great Barrier reef in April now confirmed

The "Golden Tiffany" while sailing north-bound under pilotage transiting the LADS Passage was in a collision with a south-bound fishing vessel late in April 2014. Reef Pilots was conducting the pilotage when at approximately 10 p.m. the fishing boat made a sudden unexpected turn which caused the craft to scrape against the tanker’s side. Immediately prior to the incident, no-one from the fishing vessel responded to emergency radio hails, leading the pilotage company to believe that the fishing vessel had no-one on watch. The incident was reported to the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA).
