Another mechanical failure

The 'İ. Şengül' suffered another mechanical failure in the southern Istanbul Strait in the area of Kuruçeşme on Sep 15 at 10 p.m. after having resumed its northbound transit. The ship started to drift towards passenger ships which were moored in the vicinity. Upon the distress call of the ship, Kıyı Emniyeti sent the lifeboat 'Kurtarma 7' and the tug 'Kiyen 4'. After 30 minutes the ship, which could be stopped in the last moment, was taken in tow. It was moored at the Kumkapı anchorage in pos. 40° 58.95' N 028° 57.07' E. Technical failure in Istanbul Strait

The 'I.Sengul', while en route from Kartal to Sochi suffered a technical failure at the southern entrance of the Istanbul Strait on Sep 11, 2020, at 1.30 p.m. The vessel proceeded to Istanbul anchorage and dropped anchor for repairs by the crew.
