Bulk carrier drifting closer to the south of Bahuluang Island
On Feb 4 the 'Pancaran I 5505' was seen drifting closer to the south of Bahuluang Island in Selayar Islands regency. There have been no efforts to tow or evacuate the vessel, and it may be anchored once it reaches shallow waters. It was continuously being monitored by the National Search and Rescue Agency.
Engine failure off Selayar island
The KM 'Pancaran I 5505', with 23 crew members on board, suffered an engine failure west of Selayar island in pos. 06"27.83 S - 120*09.51 E on Feb 2, 2022. The ship was en route from Muaraberau to Morowali with a cargo of coal and requested tug assistance. The 'Basarnas Pos Selayar' went on standby and offered to evacuate the crew, which was refused. Meanwhile, they were seeking assistance to reach Makassar. On Feeb 3 at 6 p.m. it anchored in pos. 06° 32.00' S 20° 24.56' E.
Still under arrest
The Singapore Supreme Court website states: Bulk carrier Patriot, which was arrested in Singapore on Aug 10, 2017, is still under arrest.
