Repair in Maasbracht

After the fire aboard the "Sequana" (ENI: 02319546) on Feb 12 on the River Rhine near Duisburg, which originated in the engine room and subsequently destroyed the vessel's rear section partially, the vessel was towed to its home port Maasbracht to be repaired at a local shipyard there. Fire in Duisburg put out after hours

The fire which had broken out aboard the "Sequana" on the Rhine in Duisburg-Wanheimerort at river kam 774 on Feb 12 at 10.17 a.m. was finally put out in the afternoon with two fire boats. The ship was loaded with 1.100 tons washed, wet coal which were not affected by the blaze. The fire fightin operation was difficulat because the barge anchored amidst the river, so the fire rescue had to wait until the "Feuerlöschboot 1" and the "Krefeld" as well as RIBs of a diver unit had arrived on site which transferred the fire fighters onto the blazing vessel. A malfunction in the engine room was thought to have been the cause of the fire. Barge on fire in Duisburg

The "Sequana", 1880 ts (EU-No.: 02319546), caught fire on the Rhine in Duisburg at the Hocheld Railway Bridge on Feb 12, 2019, at 10.15 a.m. It broke out in the engine room and spread to the accomodation area which was well alight. The crew of two trid in vain to put out the flames before alerting the fire rescue and being taken to safety. Four teams of the fire brigade went on board with respirators. Each team could only work for 10-15 minutes due to the intense smoke development before being exchanged by boats. Two fire boats were called from Krefeld and Duisburg-Ruhrort and supported the fire fighting. On the whole 50 forces were on scene. Around 1 p.m. the fire was close to being under control. The ship had loaded more than 1.000 tons coal and was underway from Maasbracht.
