Engine failure in Bosphorus

Sat Jul 27 21:53:38 CEST 2019 Timsen

The "Amis Dolphin" en route from Chornomorsk to Rostock, suffered an engine failure at Anadolufeneri point in the Bosphorus and dangerously drifted towards the shore on July 25, 2019, at 12.30 p.m. The Coastal Safety tug "Kurtarma 3" provided assistance for the vessel and for the strait traffic safety. Subsequently, the vessel was shifted to Turkeli anchorage towed by a Coastal Safety tug and assisted by technical team. An incident investigation file has been placed by the Harbour Master who imposed a fine due to breach strait safe passage regulations. The vessel also has to pay for tug assistance and salvage expenses to Coastal Safety prior to departure.
