Cargo ship seized for smuggling illegal forest products
The "Bali Gianyar" with a crew of 19 was seized by the Indonesian Navy, coming from the district of Bau-Bau, Southeast Sulawesi, for alleged smuggling of illegal teak wood. The ship docked in the Port of Tanjung Perak, Surabaya, in the afternoon of June 7. Of the 238 containers on board, 88 contained teak wood. A total of 38 containers contained a mix of goods and 112 were empty. The agency was accused of wrong declaration of cargo. The parties involved, may be subject to penalties up to five years imprisonment.
