Medevac off El Gorguel
On May 4, 2023, the 'Costa Diadema', en route from Malaga to Barcelona, requested the medical evacuation of a 67-year-old passenger with a possible heart attack 15 kilometers south of El Gorguel. The CCS Cartagena of Salvamento Marítimo mobilized the SAR boat 'Salvamar Oraco', who took the apatient off and transferred him to Cartagena for medical attention.
Crew member found dead in bed
A 55-year-old Indonesian crew member, who was working in the engine room of the 'Costa Diadema', was found lifeless in his bed. According to his colleagues, for some time, he had been complaining of a severe headache. They told the maritime health officials once they intervened onboard the ' Costa Diadema' moored at Port Cagliari on Feb 18. 2023. In turn, the officials drew up a report to the magistrate on duty, who authorized the disembarkation of the body and transport to Cagliari's St Michele cemetery. The relatives of the crew member Amri Bin Mujono, have been notified of the death, almost certainly of natural causes (sudden cardiac death) in light of the absence of signs of forced entry/struggle inside his cabin.
Medevac off Pylos
The Central Port Authority of Kalamata was informed on Oct 12, 2022, at noon that a 78-year-old passenger of the 'Costa Diadema', which was sailing 65 nautical miles west of Pylos, needed immediate hospital care. An Air Force helicopter took off and picked up the patient who was transported to the military airport of Kalamata, where he was picked up by an ambulance and transferred to the General Hospital of Messinia, where he was hospitalized.
