Engine trouble on the Maas

The 'Eleni M.' with 24 crew members on board suffered an engine failure in position 51 55 49.2 N, 003 24 48.6 E, in Dordrecht after its arrival from Port Harcourt at 7.30 p.m.. Repairs were carried out by the crew, and the ship completed its voyage to the Wilhelmina Port.

Pirate attack off Nigeria thwarted

Six pirates in a speed boat approached and came alongside the "Eleni M." which was sailing approximately 41 nautical miles south of Brass in position 03 37 12N, 06 16 24E, on May 8, 2018, at 09.20 a.m. They hooked a ladder on the ship's railings and attempted to board. The master raised the alarm, activated SSAS, increased speed, took evasive manoeuvres and non-essential crew mustered in the citadel. Due to the hardening measures taken by the master, the pirates aborted the attack and moved away leaving their ladder hanging on the ship's side.

Eleni M attacked in Gulf of Guinea, crew members taken hostage

The "Eleni M" was attacked by pirates in the Gulf of Guinea in position 04 01N 006 48E, 32 miles off Bonny, on March 30, 2017. Four armed men on a boat boarded the bulk carrier, which was under way, kidnapped six crew members and fled. The vessel was en route from Lagos to Port Harcourt where it arrived on Apr 5 at 3.45 p.m.
