Collision off Poel

Sun Oct 29 14:15:51 CET 2017 Timsen

On Oct 24, 2017, the cargo m/v "Atria" was in collision with the "Flemhude" and barges the tug was pushing off Poel island in the Wismar fairway. The "Atria" was underway towards the port of Wismar, the "Flemhude" in northern direction outside the fairway. In spite of VHF communication of bothe captains the ships collided in the narrow fairway. The tug was damaged at the wheelhouse and suffered a hull dent of four meters length. The "Atria" suffered bow damage. The water police Wismar started investigations. Both ships entered the port of Wismar and were detained until declared seaworthy again. The "Atria" was allowed to continue the voyage to Falkenberg on Oct 25 at 6 p.m., where she arrived at 5 p.m. on Oct 26. The "Flemhude" docked at berth 12 in Wismar and left the port of Wismar on Oct 31 short past midnight and berthed at the Marstal Vaerft A/S in Marstal for repairs at 8.20 a.m. It left the yard on Nov 15 at 6 p.m. On Nov 16 it was back in Kiel, assisting the dredger "Bodo Installer" (IMO: 8121434).
