Triple contact in Ismajil

The 'Gala A', while manoeuvring in the port of Ismajil, was in collision with the hopper barge 'Liberty' (IMO: 8728842), which in turn came in contact with the dredger 'Pilgrim' (IMO: 7397593), on March 22, 2023 at 7 p.m. As a result, the embankment of the Izmail sea station was damaged.

Disabled freighter unter tow to Tuzla

The 'Gala A' suffered an engine failure at Casablanca on Nov 10, 2020. As repairs could not be carried out by the crew members, the Dutch tug 'Noordstroom' (IMO: 9771705) was called from Sevilla on Nov 20 to tow it to a repair yard in Tuzla. Towage commenced on Nov 25. The convoy arrived at Tuzla anchorage on Dec 8. Upon completion of arrival formalities, the vessel entered the shipyard on Dec 9 at noon. A detailed damage survey was carried out by the appointed class surveyor and jointly with the owner's technical superintendent. Permanent repairs on the vessel started with regards to the class surveyor's further recommendations. A set of spare parts was provided by the owners from the authorized manufacturer.

United Marine Management Ltd. (UMM) stops activities, ships to be arrested

The coastal shipping company United Marine Management Ltd.. (UMM) from Estonia has stopped its activities, THB reports. Their comprehensive fleet of ten units was arrested at the request of the Swedish bank SEB in various European ports. The story has a tragic backdrop: The company's founder and former sole managing director suffered a stroke. Then his only 23-year-old son took the head of the shipping company.
