Freighter grounded on Don

Sun May 27 14:40:47 CEST 2018 Timsen

The "Igarka" ran aground at kilometer mark 3.125 on the river Don near Rostov-on-Don on May 24, 2018, at 10 a.m. The accident happened while heaving up anchor. The ship was drifted towards shallows by the current. Attempts to refloat the ship with assistance of two tugs nitially failed. The ship was refloated sometime during May 25, moved downstream and was moored on Rostov-on-Don anchorage.

IGARKA 8857863

Mon Feb 15 10:21:11 CET 2010 Timsen

On Feb 14, 2010, the "Igarka" collided with an unindentified fishing vessel in the Aegean sea. It was enroute from Rostov-on-Don to Beirut with a cargo of grain. The fishing vessel was approaching from the opposite side and suddenly had turned to port and hit the "Igarka"’s port side. After the collision the fishing vessel switched off all lights and disappeared. The "Igarka"'s bulwark was dented on a length of 30 meters. The vessel continued its voyage to Beirut where the owner is to claim a protest.
