Collision in ice convoy

The "Ivan Ryabov" was hit into the starbord side stern by the "Ice Eagle" on Feb 26, 20916, in an ice convoy in the Kara Sea. Both vessels were proceeding in ice under escort of the icebreaker "Yamal". When the "Ivan Ryabov" got stuck, she warned the "Ice Eagle", which was sailing in her wake, but the tanker could not stop in time. The cargo ship suffered a buckled poop deck, dented railings and a hull dent of 495х35х90 centimeter. The hull was not breached and the vessel, which remained seaworthy and resumed sailing. On Feb 28 at 3 p.m. both vessels had reached in ice-free waters, and the "Ivan Ryabov" was en route to Arkhangelsk, while the "Ice Eagle" proceeded to Murmansk.

Cargo ship aground and holed

The "Ivan Ryabov" with 1483 tons of general cargo on board and a crew of 19, struck an underwater object in the Zapadnaya Bay at Shmidt Point in the Chukotka Sea while changing its anchorage site due to drift, in the evening of Oct 23, 2014. The vessel suffered a hole in an oil tank under the main engine and water ingress. The main engine was disabled. Early in the morning of Oct 24 the crew managed to stop the water ingress by plugging the tank’s air pipe. The vessel was anchored in pos. 68 55,92N 179 37,80W, moored at both anchors, and was rolling with a list of up to 20 degrees. The salvage vessel "Lazurit" (IMO: 8832590) was dispatched from Vrangel Island to assist with an ETA of Oct 25. The weather on scene was stormy with snow flurries.
