Nine crew members evacuated

Sun May 19 19:21:01 CEST 2019 Timsen

Nine crew members of the "New Beginning" were evacuated from board on May 17/18 in the Ngo Bay, New Caledonia, where the ship was anchored since May 12. The cause of the evacuation unknown, but a medical assistance was mentioned.

Liquifying ore caused list

Sun May 12 19:09:45 CEST 2019 Timsen

After the "New Beginning" left New Caledonia with cargo of nickel ore on May 8, 2019, bound for Japan, the bulk carrier developed a list which was increasing on May 9. On May 10 the crew reported to the responsible MRCC, that ore liquefying was the cause of the increasing list. The ship turned back and headed for Ngo Bay, New Caledonia, from where she had started the voyage after loading ore. She arrived at Ngo Bay under tug escort in the morning of May 12 and anchored in pos. 22° 19.86' S 166° 41.58' E in the Dumbéa Pass with a 10-degrees list.
