KSL Ayang to be investigated in Port Blair

Wed Aug 30 11:45:14 CEST 2017 Timsen

The "KSL Anyang" which sailed away after allegedly hitting the fishing boat "Arogya Annai" that operates from Neendakara Port in Kollamon Aug 26 off the Kollam coast, has conveyed its willingness to cooperate in the probe by Indian authorities. The vessel has been asked to berth at a nearby Indian port for further investigation. It would be reaching Port Blair in about two days to cooperate in the probe. Since the issue involved the directorate general of shipping, the probe would be carried out by a team from the DG Shipping at Port-Blair. The boat was partially damaged and the sixfishermen, all hailing from Tamil Nadu, were rescued by workers of another fishing boat, the "Love Maria", which was in the vicinity, 40 miles off Kollam coast. The fishermen and the boat were brought to the Neendakara Port in the night with the joint effort of the Coast Guard and coastal police. Fort Kochi coastal police has registered a case against the cargo vessel after taking the statement of the fishermen. The crew of the ship were booked under IPC sections relating to 'rash navigation of vessel causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others’.
