The "Lilly Mitchell" which had been towed to Bravik on Oct 4 at 9 a.m., after its engine had broken down off Tvistein l/h near the Vestfold coast the evening before, departed from Brevik the same evening around 11 p.m. after the engine was running again. The ship headed towards its orginal destination Larvik in order to load a cargo of stones.

Broke down off Vestfold coast, Norway, in the evening October 3, with pilot on board. Vessel in ballast was proceeding to Larvik to load stones. Pilot asked for immediate assistance, tug was sent to drifting in coastline direction Lilly Mitchell, wind was up to 12 meters/sec. when tug reached Lilly Mitchell, there were some 1100 meters to shore. With the help of tug Lilly Mitchell safely reached port.
