Increased sulphur proportion - master fined

Fri Nov 30 10:26:51 CET 2012 Timsen

During a control on Nov 28, 2012, the police in Bremerhaven found deficiencies in the sulfur content in the fuel used. The measurement showed that the fuel used to power the auxiliary diesel had an increased proportion of sulfur. The measured percentage of sulfur content was 0.2653 percent (0.1 percent are allowed under current law). The cause was determined by the officers as an error in converting heavy oil to gas oil in the fuel system. The port authority was informed, and an investigation against the master initiated. He had to pay a safety fine of more than 2000 Euro.
