Toddler injured in fall on board

An emergency involving a toddler occurred on the 'Mein Schiff 7' in the port of Funchal, Madeira, on April 22, 2026. A two-year-old child fell from a height of two to three meters. The ship's doctors intervened, and local emergency services were alerted. The child received initial treatment on board the cruise ship and was then transported by ambulance to a hospital emergency room. The child was conscious, when the emergency services arrived. The Madeira port authorities stated that the regional integrated medical emergency system had been activated. The circumstances of the fall were being investigated on board in conjunction with the relevant authorities. According to TUI Cruises, the child was never in critical condition and did not sustain life-threatening injuries. It was in the hospital for routine observation but was doing well and was with family. The 'Mein Schiff 7' was on its last Canary Islands cruise of the 2025/26 winter season. The ship remained in Madeira until April 23 at noon amd tjem head back towards the Canary Islands, calling at La Palma, Tenerife, and Fuerteventura before concluding its voyage on Gran Canaria.

Cruise ship diverted to investigate drifting rubber boat

The crew of the 'Mein Schiff 7' discovered an inflatable boat on the afternoon of Jan 6, 2025, en route from Las Palmas to Gran Canaria. The cruise ship f then deviated from the planned course to investigate the situation more closely. As it quickly turned out, there were no people aboard the rubber boat. The relevant authorities in Morocco and the Canary Islands were informed of the sighting of the boat. The MRCC Gran Canaria infomred that the inflatable boat was left behind during a rescue operation of the Coastguard and has since been collected again. The 'Mein Schiff 7' was able to continue the Canary Islands cruise with Agadir in Morocco as planned.

Medevac in Kirkwall

The 'Mein Schiff 7' had to interrupt the departure maneuver in Kirkwall on the evening of Sep 30, 2024, due to a medical emergency on board the ship. The captain postponed the departure time indefinitely because the patient had to be handed over to land first. At the time of the information about the medical emergency on board, the preparatory work for departure was underway with the release of the lines by port employees. The ship was moored firmly to the pier again until an ambulance arrived at the pier a few minutes later. The patient was handed overwithin a few minutes and was then being cared for in a hospital. Only a slight delay resulted from the emergency. The 'Mein Schiff 7' finally left the port oat around 7:10 p.m. local time. The ship was originally scheduled to depart for Hamburg at 6:30 p.m. with an ETA as of Oct 3.
