Engine damage in Canakkale Strait
The "Mia", en route from Ravenna to Istanbul, sailing in ballast condition, suffered a technical failure during its Canakkale Strait passage on May 22 at 1 a.m. The vessel dropped anchor at Karanlik Liman anchorage within the strait. Repair works were being carried out by the crew while the ship was moored in pos. 40° 1.90' N 026° 18.59' E. It finally berthed in Istanbul on May 27 at 9.40 a.m. It sailed again the same day at 11.40 p.m. and berthed in Oktyabrsk on May 30 at 8.45 a.m.
