Grounding off Tekirdağ

Sat Jan 04 21:01:41 CET 2020 Timsen

The 'Nevado 35' ran aground due to a rudder failure in the Şarköy area, Tekirdağ, on Dec 25, 2019, around 5 a.m. with a crew of 11 Russians on board, about 35 meters off the coast of Mürefte near the village Hoşköy in pos. 40° 42.09' E 027° 19.60'. The captain first tried to refloat the ship by his own means, but after two days of unsuccessful attempts, he requested assistance from the General Directorate of Coastal Safety. Divers surveyed the hull, and a tug was called, but due to adverse weather conditions, progress could not be achieved. As of Jan 4 the ship was still stuck and a lightering operation of the 2.970 tons sunflower meal from Yeisk cargo was started. The tug 'Kurtarma 4' (IMO: 9335941) remained on standby at the vessel. The Turkish Coast Guard and Coastal Shipping Safety officials were monitoring the situation. The 'Nevado 35' was refloated after lightering of about 50 % of the cargo. The vessel dropped anchor of Tekirdag on Jan 5 at 5 p.m. after inspections and was moored in pos. 40° 57.92' N 027° 32.71' E. It berthed at the Europa Servizi Terminalistici SRL in the port of Catania on Jan 20 at 7.15 a.m. Turkish reports with photos and video: https://www.virahaber.com/tekirdagda-karaya-oturan-gemi-kurtariliyor-55914h.htm https://www.haberler.com/sarkoy-de-karaya-oturan-geminin-yuku-baska-gemiye-12785013-haberi/ http://www.gemipersoneli.com/haberler/11587/rus-gemisi-sarkoy%27de-karaya-oturdu https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x7pmfcw
