Bureau Veritas Certifies MSC Cruise Ship Scrubber Retrofit
Bureau Veritas S.A. (Bureau Veritas) has granted MSC Cruises' MSC Fantasia a Marine Equipment Directive (MED) Certificate, indicating the 150,000 DWT cruise ship's recently installed exhaust gas cleaning system has passed the relevant MARPOL test, World Maritime News reports. The certificate is said to indicate that the vessel's exhaust gas scrubber equipment aligns with the EU Marine Equipment Directive requirements. MSC Fantasia and MSC Preziosa are noted to be the first of the company's fleet to receive the Yara Marine Technologies (Yara) hybrid SOx exhaust gas cleaning systems. http://shipandbunker.com/news/world/885010-bureau-veritas-certifies-msc-cruise-ship-scrubber-retrofit

Explosives on cruise ship "MSC Fantasia"?
A cruise ship with 4,000 people on board had to change its route because of a hazard suspicion and enter into the bay of Souda near Chania in Crete in the early hours of Saturday. The "MSC Fantasia" came from Haifa, and was originally intended to sail to the Cretan port of Iraklion. As the Athens newspaper "To Vima" reported on Saturday, there was information that on board the vessel were suspicious passengers or there were explosives on board. An official statement of the Coast Guard initially was not available.Upload News
