Swabs and repatriation flights
Aboard the 'MSC Fantasia', the first 38 swabs were made and the results expected on May 27. The positive tested will go to the hospital ship 'Splendid'. The tested were seafarers who, in the days immediately prior to their arrival in Genoa, had exhibited symptoms comparable to those of Covid-19, even if they tested negative for the first swab carried out when the ship was still stopped in the port of Lisbon. The commissioner for Civil Protection, Giacomo Giampedrone, confirmed the willingness of the Liguria Region to move any cases of positive tested to the 'GNV Splendid' which was berthed right next to the cruise ship. The alternative destination for the positives would be the RSA in Viale Cembrano. On May 28 the first charter flights with 10 Argentine crew members and some Indian starff from the 'MSC Splendida' and 'MSC Opera' will depart, while for the following days other flights were planned to Indiato repatriate 190 other seafarers currently aboard the 'MSC Fantasia'.
