Master and chief accused of human trafficing

Sat Feb 04 17:11:24 CET 2017 Timsen

The master and the chief engineer of the "Niledutch Osprey", both of Turkish nationality, were arrested by the US Customs and Immigration officers on arrival to Newark, New Jersey, on Jan 30, 2017. Both were to appear at Federal Court on Feb 6, being accused in organizing a human trafficking net, and bringing into USA illegal migrants. Two persons were detained in 2016, who said they have been transported to USA on board of the container ship, hiding in cabins of master and chief engineer. It is said, that migrants paid $25,000 per person for that. It was also said, that the net has been operating for years. Witnesses were kept secret until court hearings. The ship left Newark on Feb 2 with new master and chief engineer and next called at Norfolk.
