Disabled cargo ship pulled to Ijmuiden

Thu Aug 23 09:50:44 CEST 2012 Timsen

The "Esmeralda" suffered engine problems enroute Szeczin-Sete. The tugs "Svitzer Trym" and "Svitzer Medemblik" were called to assist. They pulled the ship to Ijmuiden on Aug 22, 2012. In the Northern lock the "Zealand" and "Friesland" took over and berthed the disabled cargo ship at the North Quay in Beverwijk. Multiple engine problems

Sat Dec 17 15:50:06 CET 2011 Timsen

On Dec 16, 2011 at 8:35 a.m. the "Esmeralda" had to be stopped by an emergency anchoring on the Weser at Nordenham. The ship was underway from Romania to Brake with a cargo of grain, and during the voyage it already had suffered multiple problems with the main engine which also had enforced a stay in Eemshaven from Dec 8 to Dec 15. The cause of the engine problems was found to have been contaminated heavy fuel which had clogged fuel filter. The crew managed to fix the engine within one hour, and the ship continued the journey to Brake where it moored short past midnight on Dec 17.
