In the morning of Dec 6, 2020, the 'Omskiy 111', en route from Astrakhan to Amirabad, ran aground on the Volga–Caspian Sea Channel, near the grounding site of another vessel, the 'Port Olya 2', at kilometer mark 158. Both ships were bound for Amirabad with a cargo of grain each. As she blocked the fairway, a number of ships had to interrupt the transit. A tug and an icebreaker were called to assist.
