Triple allision in Bejaia

In the evening of Dec 5, 2020, while unmooring from berth 22 at Béjaia, the Liberian flagged container m/v 'Vega Sigma' (IMO: 9330240) lost control due to an electric failure, and struck the container m/v 'Atlantic North', which was docked at berth 24, amidst of cargo operations. A 64-tons-mobile crane which was handling containers on board, toppled over. The crane operator was inured and had to be taken to the Khellil Amarane hospital. The 'Atlantic North' got into motion due to the impact, moved along the quay and allided with the stern of the 'OWL', which was unloading a cargo of sugar. Both ships suffered hull damages, the 'Atlantic Borth' was breached and will have to be repaired before leaving port.
