Ship adrift without AIS could not be contacted by Coastguard

The 'Pacific Sarah' was not under command in position 49 03 54 N, 007 00 42 W and drifting with a speed of 3,3 knots on Feb 12, 2022, at 09.24 a.m. The Coastguard was unable to establish contact with the vessel in multiple frequencies. The ship was not showing up in the coastguard AIS at 10.39 a.m., continued to drift in easterly direction at approximately two knots and continued to drift in easterly direction at approximately three knots in position 49 04 37 N, 006 42 45 W, at 12.46 p.m. The MRCC Falmouth and Duty Counter Pollution and Salvage officer were attempting to contact the vessel and vessel's owners. Finally the MRCC Falmouth and Duty Counter Pollution and Salvage Officer made contact with vessel's owner who confirmed that the bulk carrier was drifting for orders. and the AIS status changed to underway using engine. The ship was en route from Rotterdam to Port Cartier.
