Offshore ship laid up
Island Offshore laid up the "Island Spirit" on Oct 31, 2015, in Tananger due to a shortage of work amid a market slump for the winter as work normally carried out by the unit such as inspection, maintenance and repair, as well as survey and ROV operations, was expected to decrease in the coming months”. There would be some lay-offs as a result of the vessel being grounded,. It was hoped the ship would be back in action with the same crew early in 2016. The latest lay-up brings to six the number of vessels that Island has laid up, comprising three platform supply vessels, two light well intervention vessels and a survey vessel, though the latter three are only out of the water during the winter months.
