Crew of abandoned bulkcarrier gets paid and will be home soon

Mon Jan 18 11:10:51 CET 2016 Timsen

The 15 Ghanaians who were stranded on the "Sider Pink" for over six months on a quay of the port of La Pallice in La Rochelle finally got their wages paid and will fly to Ghana on Jan 22, 2016. The sailors signed their papers in the offices of the Thomas Agency which received the check for over $ 350 000 which enables it to pay the sailors back wages. The BNP, one of the main creditors of the abandoned ship made the payment. The Thomas Agency officials also bought the airline tickets for the 15 sailors from Nantes to Casablanca and then to Accra. Wed Sep 02 22:57:55 CEST 2015 Timsen

A representative of the Greek crew employer of the "Sider Pink" was expected next week in La Rochelle. The 18 Crew members of the ship, 17 Greek and one Ghanaian, have € 168,000 unpaid wages, while the bulker remained docked at the Grand Port of La Rochelle. On Sep 2, 2015, their defender, Geoffroy Lamade, Atlantic correspondent of the ITF said a phone call made him "very optimistic" about a favorable outcome of the case. On Sep 1, six sailors on board who have requested a medical consultation, emerged from the doctor with diagnosis of minor ailments without gravity, the order of "bobologie".
