Turkish Design "M/V Pirgos" delivered to her owner

Tue Aug 19 09:26:21 CEST 2014 arnekiel

M/V Pirgos, a 9000 DWT green general cargo vessel designed by Norden Ship Design Turkey and built by Anrun Ship Co. China has been delivered to her owner Elefteros Maritime from Panama, the designer informed. The vessel, part of Norden’s new Eco Series of general cargo vessels, features an innovative hull form and numerous green technology solutions to achieve class leading fuel consumption and low emissions. The cargo vessel will be managed by LCSC-Burgas, Bulgaria. The vessel was classed by RINA and holds Green+ notation and green passports. The CFD optimized hull form and a new bow design provide the vessel with excellent sea keeping characteristics. Combined with a high efficiency propeller and cup fins, the vessel can achieve a fully loaded speed of 12.5 knots (%85 MCR+%5 Sea Margin) and consumes 8.0 MT HFO/day. The economic speed of 10knots further reduces the consumption down to 5.5 MT HFO/day. The vessel requires 0.4MT MDO/day at EU port idle condition and by utilizing the solar power and cold ironing can achieve Zero Emission at port. The vessel is equipped with solar panels on wheelhouse, low consumption lights, frequency converters for electric motors and systems that monitors and controls the total energy efficiency.
