SAR ship recovered floating container off Langosteira

Wed Jan 17 09:30:18 CET 2018 Timsen

On Jan 16, 2018, the "SAR Gavia" was called from El Ferrol to pick up the remains of a lost container which was observed drifting in the sea five miles from the outer port of Langosteira. At 12.07 a.m. the fishing boat "Caprichosa 2" had observed the 40-ft-box five miles north of the port Coruña de Punta Langosteira. The fishing vessel marked the container with a buoy. The "Salvamar Betelgeuse" from A Coruña was mobilized and located the container, but was unable to tow it because of its size, so the "SAR Gavia" was deployed to the area. At 2.40 hours the container was taken in tow firm towards the Outer Port of Ferrol, where it arrived at 4.15 hours. The debris was deposited on the quay of El Ferrol in the afternoon. It may belong to the cargo of the "MSC Eloane". Photo: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DTrUNhNWAAEQzWF.jpg
