En Avant 5 capsized

Fri Jun 03 23:18:04 CEST 2011 Timsen

On June 3, 2011, the "En Avant 5" capsized on the Outer Maas near Dordrecht in the early evening by yet unknown reasons. The crew of 4 escaped onto a harbour ferry. The tug was moving the 66-m-barge "6615-1", 1033 gt (IMO-No.: 9475002) of Muller-Dordrecht jointly with the "Scorpio" when it tilted. A part of the ship's bottom remained visible. The "En Avant 7" pulled the barge towards the shore after the accident. Ship traffic was temporarily halted. Meanwhile Northsea bound traffic was resumed. Rijkswaterstaat monitored the wreck.
