Bulkcarrier broke lose in Brake

In the morning of Sep 24, 2018, the "Star Grip" broke lose from its mooring at the pier in Brake after the four bow ropes broke under the pressure of the current. The ship allided with the berthed bulkcarrier "S Bronco" (IMO: 9311050) which sustained slight damage, some scratches and grazed paint. It could leave the port bound to Port Canaveral at 5.15 p.m., ETA Oct 9. The "Star Grip" then drifted into the fairway of the Weser. The crew managed to start the engine and hold the ship within the fairway against current and wind. Around midday pilot boarded the ship, and the tugs "Bugsier 1" and "Bugsier 6" were called from Bremerhaven to take the ship in tow in Golzwarden. At 2 p.m. it was moored at the North Pier in Brake. Pilot injured on Wester Scheldt

The injured pilot of the "Star Grip" was medevaced on Apr 13, 2015, and taken to hospital in Terneuzen after having been seriously injured in a fall accident on board. The ship was enroute from Antwerp to IJmuiden. The man had suffered internal bleedings, and while the crew alerted rescue services the ship proceeded slowly to the Put of Terneuzen where the KNRM lifeboat from Breskens "Zeemannshoop", the "Patrol" of Multraship and a helicopter attended. Ambulance personeel from Oostburg speeded to Terneuzen and was taken on board the "Patrol" at the lock complex. While the "Zeemanshop" and "Multratug" remained on scene after medical personnel was transferred aboard the "Sea Grip, the "Patrol" fetched the medical team of the trauma helicopter in Terneuzen. After the victim was stabilized, a Sea King helicopter of the Belgian air force airlifted the man and took him to Terneuzen. The "Multratug 26" and the "Zeemannshoop" then went alongside the cargo ship to take on board the medical personnel.
