Repair in Delfzijl

The "Avalon" was being under repair at the Niestem Sander Drydock in Delfzijl since June 27. On July 1 she was joined by the Dutch "Heyn",(IMO: 9423671), in the dock complex of the yard, which had allided with the Goole south pier on the River Ouse on June 20. The "Avalon" completed repairs on July 19 at 8.20 p.m. The ship headed to Inkoo as first port of call after repairs, ETA July 23.

Ship severely damaged in allision

The "Avalon" suffered signifant damage at starboard side during the transit of the Ghent-Terneuzen Canal on March 1, 2018, having just sailed from Antwerp bound to Sluiskil. The ship allided wtih a few mooring bollards near Terneuzen suffering breaches on several meters length and a crack in a ballast water tank which spilled out. The accident took place around 10 a.m. The ship hit the quay and a the poles due to the strong wind. A salvage company moved the ship to the quay along the way Terneuzen-Sas van Gent. Ship traffic was not hampered. The vessel left Terneuzen on March 2 at 2.40 p.m. and berthed at Hans Weert at 3.40 p.m. where repairs were started by the Shipyard Reimerswaal. It left the Shipyard Reimerswaal in Hansweert on June 5 at 10.20 a.m. and headed to Rotterdam, where it berthed in the Merwe Port at 8.40 pm. for order.
