Boxship built by Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries named “Green Ship of the Year”

Thu Apr 23 09:34:49 CEST 2015 arnekiel

Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries (HSHI), a shipbuilding affiliate of Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI), announced today that UASC Umm Qasr, a 9,000 TEU containership built by HSHI, has recently been designated 'Green Ship of the Year' by the Maritime & Port Authority of Singapore. The containership, which measures 300 m in length, 24.8 m in height and 48.2 m in width, was delivered to Singapore-based Asiatic Lloyd on July 31, 2014 and is currently chartered to Dubai-based United Arab Shipping Company (UASC)

UASC takes on new 9,000 TEU newbuilding from Singapore's Asiatic Lloyd

Thu Sep 18 12:18:42 CEST 2014 arnekiel

THE United Arab Shipping Co (UASC) has chartered a 9,034-TEU newbuilding from Singapore-based non-operating owner Asiatic Lloyd. The wide beam neopanamax containerships, Asiatic Spring was recently delivered by the Hyundai Samho shipyard, and is anchored at Busan awaiting her new assignment in October, reports Alphaliner. UASC will deploy the ship on the FE-West Med AMC 1/AMX 1 service jointly operated with CSCL. This service is to be upgraded with 9,000-9,500 TEU ships replacing UASC's 6,918 TEU class units, which are in turn to be shifted to the Indian subcontinent / MEUSEC Mina service. The move comes ahead of the planned Ocean Three arrangement forged by CMA CGM, CSCL and UASC to cooperate on the FE-Europe and FE-North America trades.
