Fri Sep 28 10:42:19 CEST 2018 arnekiel

Port of Marseille Fos and Monaco Marine seal partnership to create a mega yacht maintenance and refit centre in Marseille On Thursday 20 September 2018, the Port of Marseille Fos and Monaco Marine Marseille officially signed their partnership to create a mega yacht maintenance and refit centre in the Mirabeau harbour sector of the Port of Marseille Fos, the company said in its press release. For a period of 50 years the Port has granted an area of 55,000 m2 dedicated to marine pleasure craft repair to the company Monaco Marine, which specializes in yacht maintenance and refit between Monaco and Marseille. The Port of Marseille Fos launched a call for projects at the beginning of 2018 with the aim of attracting proposals and initiating a general industrial project in the area of the Port known as the Mirabeau harbour. At the end of the process, having presented an ambitious project for a maintenance and renovation centre dedicated to very large 90 to 133 meter yachts, the company Monaco Marine was selected.

Costa Group and Marseille Fos Port announce partnership

Fri May 18 11:16:27 CEST 2018 arnekiel

Aboard the Costa Mediterranea, the CEO of the Costa Group - the leading cruise line company in Europe - and the CEO of the Port of Marseille Fos (Marseille Fos Port Authority) today signed an agreement aimed at increasing their cooperation in three areas: • enhanced control of exhaust emissions through concerted action, notably in terms of deploying advanced exhaust gas cleaning systems (EGCS) and LNG propulsion in which the Costa Group is investing heavily • creation of a dedicated warehouse for the strategic equipment and spare parts needed for repair and refit operations in the Chantier Naval de Marseille (CNM) shipyard. This multiuser warehouse will be made available to all CNM customers, in particular the Costa Group and the Carnival fleet. In conjunction with the relevant government departments, the Marseille Fos Port Authority will provide support to CNM as regards introducing the most efficient processes and equipment • development of a training project for naval officers and engineers wishing to join the Costa Group's fleet, setting up a specific professional marine training course in Marseille.

The largest RORO ramp in France opens in Fos-sur-Mer

Wed Oct 11 15:05:19 CEST 2017 arnekiel

A new boarding ramp designed as part of the ITER project opened in Fos-sur-Mer on 20 September, Marseille Fos said in its press release. The structure in the Fos harbour allows loaded vehicles to embark directly without touching their contents. The RO-RO (roll-on / roll-off) ramp is able to support 880-tonne convoys carrying 600-tonne loads. It can operate by both docking and stranding thanks to the use of removable metal inserts. The Cadarache CEA will have priority use for the ITER project. However, the public dock may be used for other heavy loading and unloading operations, one of the main areas of diversification for the Port. Project management was carried out entirely by the Port of Marseille Fos teams in collaboration with the various funding bodies: CEA, Sosersid, CFT and Daher. This project required eight months of work and an investment of 2.7 million euros.
