Contship Italia in Ravenna Celebrates New Lifting Equipment for Megaships

Wed Oct 18 23:13:42 CEST 2017 arnekiel

Terminal Container Ravenna (TCR), the Adriatic gateway terminal for Italian container terminal operator Contship Italia, is celebrating the successful implementation of new equipment by Liebherr Maritime Cranes after spending more than US$ 28 million on a ship to shore (STS) crane and three rail mounted gantry cranes (RMGs). With this new package, TCR has set the aim of increasing the terminal handling ability to new standards to face the demands of the market with growing ship sizes and find new and improved economies of scale. TCR's delivery of the new STS (pictured above) marks the completion of its quayside upgrade plan which started in 2015. The STS is capable of working over 18 rows across and capable of lifting 60 tons. https://www.porttechnology.org/news/contship_celebrates_new_lifting_equipment_for_megaships

Ravenna Container Terminal commissions new container cranes

Fri May 02 21:56:19 CEST 2014 arnekiel

Ravenna Container Terminal (TCR) is this week celebrating the commissioning of its second new giant quay crane as part of an €8 million investment program. The Italian terminal is currently being expanded to accommodate 8,000 TEU vessels – a significant improvement given that the largest ships currently calling the facility have a capacity of 3,000 TEU The crane commissioning project was undertaken by OMG-MGM and Control Techniques (Emerson Group), in close cooperation with TCR’s technical department, and was completed in just over a year. The new cranes have an outreach of 17 containers across, 35.5 metres under spreader, and a lifting capacity improved up to 55 tonnes. Furthermore, the cranes cabins are both equipped with a dynamic control station, provided by Brieda Cabins, a technical solution designed to improve the ergonomic conditions for the crane operators. New electronic solutions will also provide a 30 percent energy saving, resulting in better operational performances and lower fuel consumption.
