Medevac off Santa Cruz de la Palma

In the morning of Nov 23, 2023, the 'Aidamar' requsted a medevac 12 nautical miles southest of Santa Cruz de La Palma, en route from Santa Cruz to San Sebastián de La Gomera. A passenger was suffering from pneumonia and was being treated by a doctor on board. The SAR boat 'Salvamar Alphard' was mobilized by the MRCC of Salvamento Marítim oin Tenerife and tramnsported the patient to the port of Santa Cruz de La Palma, where an ambulance was waiting and took him to a hospital for further treatment.

Medevac in Indian Ocean

The 'AIDAmar', which is on its round-the-world trip, had to turn to on Jan 10, 203, to disembark a medical emergency. The day before, the ship had left the port on the Australian west coast the previous day and began the seven-day sea voyage to Port Louis. The person's health deteriorated so much that it was decided to turn around. When the ship was close enough to the Australian coast, the medevac was carried out by helicopter. Thus, it was not necessary to enter a port again. After the maneuver was successfully completed, the 'AIDAmar' resumed the voyage to Port Louis with an ETA as of Jan 18.

Now 12 crew members tested positive for COVID-19

On Aug 6 AIDA confirmed another positive test for COVID-19 among the 750 crew members aboard the 'AIDABlu' and 'AIDAMar' in Rostock, bringing the total number of infected to 12. All of them were from Southeast Asia and had arrived at the Laage Airport two weeks ago. All infected were disembarked and quarantined outside of Rostock. Two of them had to be treated in hospital for symptoms.
