Two Qatari LNG tankers bound for Italy’s Adriatic terminal

Thu Sep 10 14:51:01 CEST 2015 arnekiel

Two Qatari LNG tankers are due to berth at the 8 Bcm/year Adriatic LNG terminal in northern Italy between week 37 and week 38, Platts’ trade flow software cFlow showed. The 151,700 cu m Al Areesh LNG and 145,700 cu m Maran Gas Asclepius — both departing from Ras Laffan — are indicated to arrive at the regasification plant Wednesday and September 18, respectively. The Al Areesh was last seen offshore Italy’s eastern coast half-way into the Adriatic Sea, while the Maran Gas Asclepius had already set sail eastward from Qatar but was still in the Persian Gulf. Another Qatari cargo, the 151,700 cu m Al Daayen could potentially lay anchor at Adriatic LNG on September 13, according to Eclipse Energy, an analytics unit of Platts. The Al Daayen is currently headed for the Suez from Ras Laffan but cFlow data is not yet showing a destination for the tanker. However, over the past six months the Al Daayen has only sailed the Ras Laffan-Adriatic LNG route. If all three cargoes reached the terminal, Italian LNG imports this month would reach the equivalent of 354 million cu m of natural gas, Eclipse figures indicated. This compares with 420 million cu m in August and 474 million cu m in the same period last year, operational data from transmission system operator Snam showed. The Adriatic LNG terminal is in the northern Adriatic Sea offshore Porto Levante and is operated by Terminale GNL Adriatico Srl, a joint venture between Qatar Petroleum (45%), ExxonMobil (45%) and Edison (10%).
