Dredger in allision off Cuxhaven
The "Barent Zanen" was involved in an accident with the cargo m/v "Bimi" on Mar 1, 2014, at 6.30 a.m. on Medem Roads. The dredger was working off Cuxhaven and was approached by the "Bimi" after the cargo ship left the Kiel Canal locks in Brunsbüttel, whilst coming from Eemshaven. At the time of the collision it was dense fog on the Elbe. The "Bimi" was towed to the Sea Bath Bridge in Cuxhaven by the tugs "Taucher O. Wulf 3" and "Taucher O. Wulf 5" some time later, also the pilot boat "Nübbel" and the lifeboat "Hermann Helms" attended. The "Barent Zanen" returned to Cuxhaven too. The "Bimi" proceeded to the Bredo Yard for repairs on Mar 5.
