Tanker to be auctioned
Brightoil's tankers were headning for an auction block on order of the Hongkong Court. The Singaoren counterparts prepared the auction of the fleet of the troubled fuel trader including the "Brightoil Galaxy", "Brightoil League" and "Brightoil Lucky" which was anchored in Hong Kong waters.
Detained at Singapore on Jul 30 and released on Aug 6
Crude oil tanker Brightoil Lucky (63294 gt, built 2009), was detained in Singapore, on Jul 30. The reasons behind the detention are unclear but may involve disputes over goods and services. Subsequently, the vessel was released on Aug 6.
13 Chineese fishers recovered dead
By Oct 6, the bodies of 12 Chinese have been pulled out of their capsized fishing vessel "Lurong Yuanyu 378" after it collided with the "Brightoi Lucky" 400 km north of the Oki Islands in the Sea of Japan. Divers of the Japanese Coastguard found all bodies of the missing 12 crew members inside the ship. The death toll rose to 13 after one of four crew members who had been rescued from the fishing boat subsequently died. The 290-tonne Chinese fishing vessel had 16 people on board when it collided with the tanker. Four of them were rescued by nearby Chinese fishing boats before the Japanese rescue operation began.
