A baby was born onboard the 'Argyle' on April 26, 2023, at around 8 a.m. on the 7.15 a.m. sailing from Rothesay to Wemyss Bay. She was born in a vehicle on the ferry's car deck. Captain Lee McDowell, who was the Master on board the sailing, said: "We are delighted at the news of a very special delivery on board MV Argyle in Wemyss Bay this morning – a baby girl! Our warmest wishes and congratulations to the parents, and to our youngest ever passenger." CalMac staff also posted about the good news on the ferry service’s social media, wishing the newborn and her family congratulations.

Thu Oct 21 11:33:08 CEST 2021 Timsen

A body was found in the sea in the morning of Oct 19, 2021 amid tragic circumstances. The Largs lifeboat was called ou, while the 'Argyle', which serves the Wemyss Bay to Rothesay route, also assisted. A 74-year-old man was found in the water near Port Bannatyne on Bute shortly after 9 a.m. Police attended along with partners from HM Coastguard and the RNLI. The death was being treated as unexplained, though there were no apparent suspicious circumstances. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course. The lifeboat returned at 10.45 a.m. and was made ready for service once again.

Repairs of failed turbocharger completed

Mon Jun 08 11:20:25 CEST 2015 Timsen

Rothesay’s ferry service returned to normal in the morning of June 8 after a week of disruption following a breakdown on the "Argyle". The vessel, which suffered a turbocharger failure on May 31, re-entered service with the 7 a.m. sailing from Rothesay. Specialist engineers from the ship’s engine manufacturer and turbocharger manufacturer were called in to investigate the failure, while spare parts were air freighted in to speed up repairs.
